lighting question

Hi,
I can get used metal halide lights for a fraction of the cost of fleurescent or LED lights. I am going to be using them around 8-10 hours a week at the MOST. I understand pulse start are the best way to go. 400 watt bulbs. acrylic globes... do I want an aluminum reflector?

Please help.
